Job Description
 Reports to:Â
- The Steward is directly responsible and accountable to the Commissary or Snack Bar Manager on duty, and ultimately accountable to the Captain of the vessel while underway.
Supervises:Â
- None
Description of Duties: Â
The Steward operates the cash register, handles cash and assist with food preparation and packaging.Â
-  Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, sandwiches, light cooking, frying and packaging prepared foods.
-  Stock service areas with supplies and condiments. 
-  Ensure that food areas are clean and sanitary.
-  Operate cash register.
-  Collect payments from customers
-  Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:Â
- HS diploma or equivalent
-  At least two years of food service experience required
-  Valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner’s Credential
-  Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
-  Valid TWIC care or must have completed the enrollment process with TSA
-  Good communication skills
Physical Requirements:Â
- Ability to operate a computer terminal, telephones and standard office equipment. 
-  The physical evaluation guidelines for employment aboard BPPJ vessels are based on the United States Coast Guard NAVIC 04-08 “Medical and Physical Evaluation Guidelines for Merchant Mariner Credentials.
